Poeming: Tired of Hiding

Tired of Hiding

She had

always hid from

painful mem’ries

haunting her todays

and she had

run a million

miles inside her

head to keep away

the

awful looming

pall of voices

shouting on the

other side of

walls within the

confines of a

home that felt un

safe

She’d

found her ways from

sadness in the

stories she could

run to with their

worlds where people

talking

sharing

laughing

built a place

where

loving mothers

fathers held

their smiling

little children

where

no bruises and no

secrets must be

hidden from the

world

Where no

fathers touched their

daughters in the

ways no father

should have and no

secrets must be

hidden and she

wouldn’t have a

need to hide

away
